Job Description

Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa’s Department of Family Medicine is seeking an Appointment Scheduler for its busy practice.

Primary duties for this position include but are not limited to:

• Answer phones via ACD line, schedule appointments and answer general non-clinical questions.



• Triage patient calls by obtaining applicable patient history, specific problems, duration of symptoms, severity, treatment tried and effect on symptoms.



• Accurately and efficiently document patient calls/inquiries and task physician and/or nursing team in Electronic Health Record system.



• Check out patients post visit reappointing their next visit, generating discharge summary, scheduling patients on the lab schedule if needed.



• Monitoring provider’s schedule to ensure accurate appointment scheduling and maximize use of provider time.



• Work out going referrals to ensure referral was received by specialty office and patient contacted to schedule.



• Various miscellaneous clerical duties.

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills are essential. Candidates must be or become proficient in the use of computer systems, including electronic medical records (EMR).



• Medical office experience preferred but not required.
