Position Description
Serco supports the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) building and deploying high-fidelity submarine simulation, training and analysis products for the US Navy. We are looking for a
CAD Designer / Hardware Engineer to join our hardware team to develop supporting documentation and participate in our builds and deployments.
Qualified applicants should have experience with CAD, Solid Works and IT systems consisting of rack mounted hardware, Networking, video extension equipment and system cabling.
In this role, you will: \n - Provide mechanical design for rack-based systems to ensure safety, stability, ease of repair, reliability and durability.
\n - Develop CAD rack design and interconnect diagrams.
\n - Develop Solid Works floor plans for trainer site layouts.
\n - Fabricate and install system interconnect cabling for communications, video, power, fiber, audio, networking and serial interfaces
\n - Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex IT systems.
\n - Assist remote system installations of equipment to support training systems (10-20% travel)

Qualifications To be Successful in this role, you will have: \n - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or other related Engineering field with 2 years of experience or a Master's Degree
\n - Proficient with AutoCAD and Solid Works.
\n - Active DoD Secret Clearance
\n - Mechanical Assembly - Use of basic hand tools to fabricate IT racks, custom consoles and onsite system installation.
\n - Able to lift up to 50lbs to support equipment installations
\n - Basic knowledge of interfaces and networking mediums including but not limited to Ethernet 1G/10/25G wiring (CAT5e, CAT6, CAT7, fiber, SFP) and serial cabling.
\n - Ability to decipher and install complex IT system from a system line drawing
\n - Basic knowledge of electronics pertaining to computer wiring and assembly
\n - Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint.
\n - Ability to support on-site installations at trainer sites (25%)

Additional desired experience and skills: \n - Master's Degree in an engineering discipline.
\n - Proficient in Visio to support system designs
\n - Experience with Naval Systems, particularly submarine systems
\n
