SUMMARY
The Clinical Education Specialist job description is in alignment with the Association of Nurses in Professional Development (ANPD). ANPD is the practice and thought leader for nursing professional development and the specialty practice organization upon which education specialists base their professional activities. ANPD has identified six core standards of practice on which this job description was heavily influenced: competency management, education, role development, orientation/onboarding, research/EBP/QI, and collaborative partnerships.
Department Name: North Campus Operating Room/Pre/PACU/Post
Job Status: full time, 40 hours per week, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday through Friday, normal business hours (start and end times may vary). There may be times when clinical shifts are necessary.
This position will support North Campus (Broomfield) primarily but will partner with the teams at both Anschutz (Aurora) and South Campus (Highlands Ranch)
Duties & Responsibilities

1. Designs, coordinates, facilitates, onboarding and orientation programs for licensed and unlicensed team members.
2. Evaluates orientation and onboarding experiences to ensure newly hired team members are prepared to practice safely and independently.
3. Mentors, develops, and evaluates preceptors to enhance learning experiences for all new hires.
4. Collaborative Partnerships: Demonstrates knowledge of effective communication principles and promotes communication among disciplines.
5. Responds to diversity by recognizing, assessing, and adapting the nature of working relationships with other professionals and populations. Identifies and mitigates deterrents to collaboration.
6. Participates in shared decision making, effective team work, and recognition of team and individual contributions. Collaborates with extraprofessional and other stakeholders to ensure educational programs are aligned with organizational goals and strategic plan
7. Facilitates learning outcomes through innovative partnerships.
8. Demonstrates skillful guidance and teaching of team members to advance the care of patients, families, and the profession of nursing.
9. Acts as a resource to staff, department, and safety coaches related to patient safety issues
10. Supports quality improvement standards; regulatory standards; patient safety standards; error prevention tools, methodologies, technologies and resources.
11. Participates and mentors others in the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental, divisional and organizational goals to include research and the quality improvement/research process to improve patient outcomes.
12. Demonstrates leadership through team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to build partnerships across the system.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent with post-master's certification in education
Experience: 5 years of clinical pediatric experience. At least 2 years of perioperative nurse experience strongly preferred. Pediatric Operating Room experience preferred.
Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire, American Nurses Credentialing Center(ANCC) or Magnet approved certification.
Licensure(s): Current Colorado RN License
